Chanawat watch repair benefits

Why Chanawat

What we do differently

From the first conversation to the final handover, here is what you can expect when you bring a watch to our Chiang Mai workshop.

At a glance

Six reasons clients return

Calibrated timing equipment

We use a professional timing machine for every regulation job — not a phone app, not estimation. You receive a printed or noted rate result so you can see the change clearly.

Prices fixed from the start

Our three service prices are set and shown on the Solutions page before you contact us. There are no assessment charges added on top, and no revised invoices after the fact.

Realistic timelines

We tell you when your watch will be ready and we keep to that date. If something changes, we contact you before the collection day — not when you arrive at the workshop.

Honest diagnostic findings

If a watch's issue is beyond the scope of our services, or if it genuinely does not need the work requested, we say so. You are never charged for a recommendation we cannot stand behind.

Written records for every appraisal

Appraisal documents include photographs, condition grading, and movement reference details. They are formatted to be useful to insurers and solicitors, not just as a personal memento.

Strap options shown in person

Rather than ordering online without seeing it, you can hold a potential strap against the watch in our workshop. The right proportion and colour are much easier to judge when the watch is on the table.

Professional expertise

Chanawat's founder spent years learning movement servicing from practitioners in Bangkok before returning to Chiang Mai to open an independent workshop. That background informs the way we handle every piece — the same attention to whether a movement is running cleanly applies to a modest everyday watch as to a more significant piece.

  • Experience across mechanical and quartz calibres
  • Familiar with common Swiss and Japanese movement families
  • Vintage watches handled with appropriate care for aged parts

Professional equipment and process

The timing machine we use reads beat error, amplitude, and rate across multiple positions. This gives a far more complete picture of a movement's behaviour than a simple rate check. Adjustments are made incrementally, with the watch tested after each change rather than set once and returned.

  • Multi-position timing measurement as standard
  • Condition photographed before and after work begins
  • Client notified before any additional work is undertaken

Client communication

We try to explain things without jargon. If you want to know what a beat error reading means or why a watch runs faster in the dial-up position, we are happy to show you on the machine. If you prefer a simple summary — it runs well now, here you are — that is fine too.

  • Plain-language explanations available at every stage
  • Contact by phone or message to discuss progress
  • No work starts without your understanding and agreement

Value and pricing clarity

Service prices are published openly. Timing Regulation & Diagnostics is ฿1,850 THB; Strap Fitting & Sourcing is ฿4,200 THB; Appraisal & Documentation is ฿5,650 THB. These figures cover the service as described. No surcharges appear afterwards.

  • All prices stated before you commit
  • No diagnostic fees charged separately
  • Additional work always discussed and priced first

Measurable results

After timing regulation you receive before-and-after rate figures — not a general statement that "it runs better now." For appraisals, the document is formatted so that an insurer or solicitor can use it directly. For strap fitting, the work is assessed on the wrist before you leave.

  • Timing results documented numerically
  • Appraisal formatted for practical use
  • Strap fitting verified before collection

What sets us apart

Distinctive features of our workshop

Timing results in writing

Most workshops tell you verbally that a watch runs better. We document the before-and-after figures so you can see the actual change — useful if the watch is for sale or part of a collection record.

Strap fitting in a single visit

We keep a selection of straps in common lug widths available for immediate fitting. You leave with the strap on the watch, rather than waiting for an order to arrive.

English and Thai consultations

Clients from within Thailand and visiting from abroad are equally welcome. We can conduct the consultation and provide documentation in either language.

Unhurried appointments

We do not rush intake appointments. If you have questions about your watch's history or mechanism, that conversation is part of the service — not an inconvenience.
