Somrutai Phirom

Chiang Mai, TH

I brought in my grandfather's Seiko that had been running about four minutes slow each day. The diagnostic took about ten minutes — they showed me the timing machine results right there. Three days later I picked it up running within about five seconds per day. The difference is quite remarkable for a watch of that age.

Munich, DE — visiting

I needed an appraisal document for insurance purposes on a piece I'd had for a while. The document they produced was genuinely professional — photographs, condition grading, movement details. My insurer accepted it without question. The service was calm and thorough.

Lamphun, TH

Came for a strap fitting and they had several options to try in the right width. It took a little longer than I expected — maybe 45 minutes for the full selection process — but that was because they were genuinely careful about getting the fit right rather than rushing. The result is good.

Lyon, FR — visiting

I was in Chiang Mai for two weeks and my Longines had started running fast. Found this place by asking around the old city. They took a look immediately, explained what the timing machine showed, and had it regulated within two days. No pressure, no upsell. Very pleasant.

I had an appraisal done on two watches that belonged to my father. The documentation they produced is clear and thorough — I now have a proper record of each piece for the family archive. One minor point: it did take five days rather than the three they initially hoped for, but they called me to let me know in advance.

Chiang Rai, TH

Drove from Chiang Rai for the strap fitting — a bit far but a friend recommended them and I am glad I went. They had the right lug width in leather and took the time to show me a couple of colour options on the watch itself, which made the decision straightforward. Good visit overall.

Case Studies

Three client journeys

A vintage Seiko losing four minutes daily

Challenge

A 1975 Seiko 5 had been kept well but its rate had gradually deteriorated. The owner was unsure whether it was worth adjusting or whether the movement had deeper issues.

What we did

Initial timing machine reading showed −4.2 minutes/day in the dial-up position. The regulator was adjusted incrementally over two sessions. No further work was needed.

Result

Rate brought to −6 seconds/day — well within normal range for a movement of this age. Owner collected in two days; total cost ฿1,850 THB as quoted.

"I was half-expecting to be told the movement needed a full service costing much more. Instead they fixed what actually needed fixing." — Somrutai P.

Estate watch appraisal for insurance

Challenge

A client had inherited two watches and wanted them included on a home insurance policy, but had no documentation of their condition or value.

What we did

Both pieces were inspected and photographed. A two-page document for each watch described the condition grade, movement reference, case material, and crystal type — formatted to meet insurer requirements.

Result

Both watches added to the insurance schedule within one week of collection. Client also received digital copies of both documents for safe storage.

"The document they produced was accepted straight away. It was more thorough than I expected." — Nattaporn K.

Strap replacement for a travel watch

Challenge

A visitor had a 20mm lug watch with a worn leather strap and wanted to replace it before continuing travels. He was uncertain about colour and material choice.

What we did

Three leather straps were placed against the watch case in the workshop. One was clearly the right proportion and colour; the fitting was done the same afternoon without the need for a return visit.

Result

Watch collected same day with new strap fitted and spring bars checked. Total visit approximately 90 minutes including browsing time. Client continued his trip the following morning.

"Being able to see the options on the actual watch made the choice obvious. Much better than ordering online." — Jean-Luc M.
